Pat Lyons, Guitar and Vocals Guitarist, Pat Lyons is one of two lead guitar players for the Roosters Teeth blues band. Pat purchased his first guitar at the age of 14 which was a Silvertone Electric Guitar and amp combo from the early sixties. He soon learned to play the surf and pop being played on the mainstream AM radio, but was really taken by the raw sound of the blues that he heard on late night radio programs from Oakland. By the time he was 17 he was performing in his first blues band called The Red, White &Blues Band in venues as far away as Cotati. Variations of this band continued through his early twenties which led to many great experiences & friendships. Pat played 50’s style music with a band called Subject To Change. In addition he played four nights a week as part of a house band that performed for our military men at the Alameda Naval Air Station. For Pat, the last thirty years has been a joyride playing with many bands. Whether he is wailing on a lead solo or stylizing as the sideman, he’s a true pleasure to watch. The equipment he’s collected over years includes several vintage Fender amps (all tubes), a more modern tube powered Bad Cat combo amp and a KeeleyModded TS-9 for solo boost. Armed & loaded with an arsenal of guitars, Pat has a chance to show many tone’s & textures while performing. Pat’s last two blues projects; MenWithout Jobs featuring Gregg Ellison on harmonica & Black Cat Bone featuring Penny White on vocals, performed at many festival venues from Sacramento to Santa Cruz as well as the countless clubs in the Bay Area. However one of his greatest experiences is; that he was lucky enough to befriend the late great Chicago blues guitarist Luther Tucker, who was a great musical influence and mentor to him. Now as a team, Pat and Kurt come from their last collaboration “Black Cat Bone” to join forces with Sissy, Kenny and Steve to embark on new musical adventures in Rooster’s Teeth, which provides the perfect vehicle to play the music that he loves…the blues!
Kurt Stahl, Guitar Guitarist, Kurt Stahl is the other half of the guitar duo that helps give Rooster's Teeth its dynamic sound. Kurt has played guitar for over 35 years and the best way to describe his playing is; crisp rhythms, tasty leads & crafty slide work. He always compliments every song he puts his fingers to. Kurt was also in Black Cat bone collaborating with Pat Lyons, honing their musical chemistry together for more than 10 years only to teamed up once again for another run. He has preformed in such venues as; festivals & night clubs spanning throughout California and has experience with production & recording as well as. Initially inspired by the psychedelic rock of Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton’s playing in Cream; it wasn’t long before he heard the call of the wild and that’s when the blues overtook him. Slide guitar is one of Kurt’s passions and cites Duane Allman, Elmore James, Rory Gallagher, Johnny Winter & Sonny Landreth as his main inspirations. Other musical influences are: Peter Green, Freddie King, B.B. King, Stevie Ray, Vaughn, Michael Bloomfield, T-Bone Walker and Albert King.
